Laureate of the Queen Elisabeth Competition, Kazakh violinist Ruslan Talas' musical journey has been shaped by the European, Russian, and Kazakh violin traditions. He is joined by "aristocrat of the piano" ( Fort Worth Star Telegram) Luigi Carroccia for a program of beloved repertoire for violin and piano, including Beethoven's iconic Violin Sonata No. 9 in A Major and Franck's lush Sonata in A Major. Presented with support from Fondazione Nicola Bulgari. Ticket Rates (Inclusive of fees) $14-$44 See Special Offers page for how to book Free Youth, $14 Student, $25 Under 35, and UChicago Faculty & Staff tickets. Ruslan Talas Performs Paganini Caprice Op1 No17 at the Stuttgart International Violin Competition Praise for Ruslan Talas “Talas tossed off octaves and tenths, entire passages of artificial harmonics, up-bow staccato, ricochet, and more with apparent ease. This piece calls for one devilishly difficult technique after another, and Talas did it with panache and musicality.” — The Violinist Luigi Carroccia – Polonaise in A flat major Op. 53 (second stage) Praise for Luigi Carroccia “Luigi Carroccia took the stage with an air of confidence born out of being secure with his abilities. And was he ever. As his performance went on, the realization of his gift only grew stronger. They can all play the notes rapidly and most can even get into the music. Carroccia was something different." — Gregory Sullivan Isaacs, Theater Jones Program: Beethoven: Violin Sonata No. 9 in A major, Op. 47 (Kreutzer) Franck: Sonata in A Major for Violin and Piano
