Stravinsky and Scriabin Pianist Isaac Cohen, Co-Winner of the 2026 University of Chicago Concerto Competition, is the featured soloist in Russian symbolist composer Alexander Scriabin’s Piano Concerto in F-sharp minor, Op. 20, written in 1896. Three fascinating works by Igor Stravinsky from early in his career – his short orchestral fantasy Feu d’artifice (Fireworks) , Op. 4 of 1908, his Quatre Études pour Orchestre , which are 1928 arrangements of chamber works from the prior decade, and the 1919 suite from his magical ballet of 1910, L’oiseau de feu (The Firebird), which catapulted the composer to international fame – complete this richly nuanced program of turn-of-the-century Russian gems. Free admission. Donations requested at the door: $10 general, $5 students and children.
