Kick off Picosa’s 13th season with an evening of thrilling contrasts, spellbinding folklore, and vivid sonic worlds! From the whimsical, virtuosic banter of Shulamit Ran’s Flight of the Brave Chicken: Ode To Nina to the dark, Appalachian-tinged storytelling of Stacy Garrop’s Silver Dagger, this program spans the full spectrum of chamber music colors. Experience a world premiere by Howard Whitaker, the lush cycles of Turina’s Círculo, and Aaron Copland’s inimitable Appalachian Spring. Joined by talented young artists from the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestras (CYSO), this is an opening night packed with theatrical flair and sheer sonic delight.
