The University of Pennsylvania Wind Ensemble is pleased to announce its Fall 2026 concert – Invitation to the Dance. The program features the music of dance from around the world including Alfred Reed’s Armenian Dances, Robert Russell Bennett’s Suite of Old American Dances, Terpsichorean Dances by Jodie Blackshaw, John Mackey’s Redline Tango, and Tico-Tico by Zequinha Abreu. They hope you'll join them! This event is free and open to the public ABOUT PENN WIND ENSEMBLE The Penn Wind Ensemble, with an over 40-year history performing and rehearsing in Penn’s historic Irvine Auditorium, is comprised of musicians from across the Penn community. Conducted by Paul Bryan, the ensemble performs a wide range of musical literature, including newly composed works for wind band, staples of the core wind repertoire, and pieces for varied instrumentation such as wind quartets and chamber configurations.

Epic Works! We are honored to welcome Penn Chamber directors performing alongside PSO alums to present Mendelssohn's Octet in the 1st half of our program followed by R. Strauss's Alpine Symphony following intermission. Incredibly uplifting musical works and "a first" to be performed by our university ensembles. It will be a special evening of remarkable artistry. This event is free and open to the public. ABOUT PENN SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA The University of Pennsylvania Symphony Orchestra, founded in 1878, is comprised of musicians from across the University community, most of whom are not music majors. Led by Thomas Hong, the ensemble rehearses for four hours each week and performs a diverse range of repertoire from the eighteenth, nineteenth, and twentieth centuries.
