Border CrosSing is an award-winning, Minnesota-based, choral arts nonprofit. Our mission is to cross borders through choral music. Founded in 2017, Border CrosSing envisions a fundamental change in classical music culture, so that every concert, every audience, and the artists on stage truly reflect the cultural reality in which we live. Our work provides opportunities for people from different communities to understand each other in new ways through our multilingual Puentes concert series; Heritage Choir, our inclusive community chorus; education outreach with local schools; studio albums Un milagro de fe and Aquí te amo; and vocal sheet music publications on Graphite Marketplace. The Border CrosSing Education Outreach Ensemble is composed of members from the Border CrosSing professional roster, all accomplished soloists, teaching artists, composers and performers based in Minnesota. Originally developed as part of MPR’s Class Notes program, Border CrosSing’s Education Outreach Ensemble has performed for thousands of students across the state. With the support of Chorus America Music Education Partnership Grants, the program has grown into ¡Dale! School Residency Program, where the ensemble brings Latin American music across styles and traditions to classroom settings and engages students directly in the learning and performing process. Originally from Colombia, Natalia Romero Arbeláez is a passionate performer, music educator, and community builder. She brings energy and a deep love of inclusive music-making to every group she leads. Natalia is passionate about access, and singer input & ownership in her choirs and performing practices. In addition to her work in the classroom, Natalia serves as the Education & Community Engagement Director for Border CrosSing, where she’s developed the ¡Dale! School Residency Program and founded Heritage Choir, a joyful and welcoming bilingual community choir. Natalia holds a Bachelor of Music from St. Olaf College and a Master of Music Education from the University of Saint Thomas.

Tina Park, Ji Young Lee, Horacio Nuguid and Anton Melnichenko Dr. Tina Park is a pianist, educator, and artistic director, and a recipient of the Creative Individual Grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board. She currently serves as Assistant Professor of Piano at Bethel University in Minnesota and is the Founder and Artistic Director of the Bethel University Summer Piano Academy. Recognized for her refined artistry and forward-thinking vision, Dr. Park is active on international stages and is deeply committed to interdisciplinary collaboration and innovative music education, establishing a distinctive voice in today’s classical music landscape. Dr. Park began her formal musical training at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, where she completed thirteen years of intensive study from pre-college through her undergraduate degree. She later moved to the United States to pursue advanced studies, earning a Master of Music in Piano Performance from the University of Notre Dame, followed by a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Minnesota, where she studied under Professor Alexander Braginsky. An active soloist and collaborative artist, Dr. Park has performed in major venues across the United States and China. While maintaining a strong foundation in traditional repertoire, she is equally dedicated to exploring contemporary works and cross-cultural expression. Her artistic practice frequently integrates music with visual art, movement, and other disciplines, creating immersive and multidimensional performance experiences. A central embodiment of her artistic vision is the interdisciplinary project Piano in Motion: Where Sound Becomes Movement and Color. This innovative production combines piano performance with dance, live painting, and the Chinese pipa, transforming sound into visual and physical expression. Supported by the Minnesota State Arts Board, the project has received wide acclaim for its originality and artistic impact. Dr. Park was invited to present this work at the Minnesota Music Teachers Association Conference, where she shared her insights in a session titled Creative Concert Programming: Utilizing Interdisciplinary Art Forms in Piano in Motion: Where Sound Becomes Movement and Color, contributing to the advancement of creative concert design and music education. Mezzo-soprano Clara Osowski , who sings “from inside the music with unaffected purity and sincerity” (UK Telegraph), is an active soloist and chamber musician hailed for her “rich and radiant voice” (UrbanDial Milwaukee). She was a Metropolitan Opera National Council Upper-Midwest Regional Finalist, the winner of several competitions including Bel Canto Chorus Regional Artists Competition of Milwaukee, the Houston Saengerbund Competition, several time runner-up in The Schubert Club Bruce P. Carlson Scholarship Competition, and third place in the Madison Handel Aria Competition. Recognized for her excellence in Minnesota, Clara was a recipient of the prestigious 2018-2019 McKnight Artist Fellowships for Musicians administered by MacPhail Center for Music. In international competition with pianist Tyler Wottrich, in March of 2017, Clara became the first ever American prize winner when she placed second at Thomas Quasthoff’s International Das Lied Competition in Heidelberg, Germany. Later that year, the duo was also one of four to reach the finals in the very prestigious Wigmore Hall/Kohn Foundation Song Competition in London, and Clara was awarded the Richard Tauber Prize for the best interpretation of Schubert Lieder. She recently won the Radio-Canada People’s Choice Award and third place in the song division at the 2018 Concours Musical International de Montréal. Recent performance highlights include her debut with Minnesota Opera as Mrs. Herring in Britten’s Albert Herring, and active as a recitalist, she stepped in for Susanna Philips in The Schubert Club International Artist Series Recital with Eric Owens. She has also been a feature recitalist at the Enlightenment Festival of Seraphic Fire, The Pablo Center of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, The Dame Myra Hess Memorial Concerts, and several universities. She has collaborated with many chamber musicians, including pianist Wu Han, The Lydian String Quartet, VocalEssence Ensemble Singers, the Minneapolis Guitar Quartet, Accordo, and Dark Horse Consort. Clara’s passion for contemporary music is exhibited in the song-cycles and chamber music she has premiered or commissioned by numerous composers including James Kallembach, Libby Larsen, David Evan Thomas, Linda Kachelmeier, Reinaldo Moya, Carol Barnett, and Juliana Hall. Founded in 2017, the Havana Quartet has established itself as a distinguished ensemble in both classical and contemporary music, proudly representing the richness and diversity of Cuban culture. The quartet is composed of Hansel Pérez Carrero (director, violin), Ana Caridad Frómeta (violin), Amaya Fuentes Sarria (viola), and Denise Hernández Rabeiro (cello), all graduates of the University of the Arts in Havana. Alongside their work as a quartet, its members have performed with some of Cuba’s leading ensembles, including the Havana Chamber Orchestra, the Havana Lyceum Orchestra, and Música Eterna, contributing to the country’s vibrant musical life. The quartet made its debut during the 30th anniversary celebration of the Havana Contemporary Music Festival and has since appeared at prestigious events including La Ruta de Mozart, the Havana Classical Music Festival, the Mozart-Habana Festival, and the Habaneras Festival, commemorating Havana’s 500th anniversary. Their repertoire spans the classical canon—from Mozart and Shostakovich to contemporary Cuban composers such as Alfredo Diez Nieto, Alejandro Falcón, and Jorge Amado Molina. In 2022, their recording of Molina’s Ofrenda, featured on the album of the same name, received a Cubadisco Award, Cuba’s highest recognition in the recording industry. In 2023, the Havana Quartet began a new artistic chapter in the United States, performing at the Harvard Fivesparks Music Festival and the Apple Hill Center for Chamber Music. There, they collaborated with internationally acclaimed artists including Judith Eissenberg, Rhonda Rider, Judith Gordon, and Leonard Matczynski. After relocating to the Minneapolis–Saint Paul area, the quartet continued refining its artistry under the mentorship of Tom Rosenberg and J. Freivogel, quickly becoming an active and valued presence in Minnesota’s cultural community. The ensemble performs extensively throughout the state, presenting concerts and educational programs in concert halls, universities, schools, libraries, and community venues, bringing chamber music to audiences across both urban and rural communities. Their educational outreach has included an interactive concert and masterclass at the University of Minnesota Duluth as part of A Shades of Africa, a week-long celebration exploring the musical traditions and cultural influences of Africa and its global diaspora. Christine Amon is a versatile mezzo-soprano excelling in opera, musical theater, and art song. Her stage roles include Dorabella in Così fan tutte, the title role in Cendrillon, Hansel in Hansel and Gretel, Erika in Vanessa, Prince Orlofsky in Die Fledermaus, and Carrie Pipperidge in Carousel, among many others. She has appeared with Nashville Opera, Opera Carolina, Toledo Opera, Opera Grand Rapids, Union Avenue Opera, Opera Louisiane, and Opera Memphis. Ms. Amon also created the role of Mich in Mich and the Moon in the premiere of The Ghosts of Crosstown at Opera Memphis. In 2018 she was a finalist in the international Lotte Lenya Competition hosted by the Kurt Weill Foundation for Music. Concert performances include Rossini’s Stabat Mater, Bach’s Magnificat, Will Todd’s Mass in Blue, Mahler’s Resurrection Symphony, and Handel’s Messiah. Hailing from Grand Rapids, Michigan, Amon earned her BM at Grand Valley State University where she was named a Distinguished Alumna in 2015, and her MM from Bowling Green State University. She earned a doctorate at the University of Michigan and currently teaches classical and musical theatre voice at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. This season, Amon will perform Gustav Mahler’s Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen with the Chippewa Valley Symphony Orchestra. Kenneth J. Pereira , baritone, enjoys an active career on the operatic, concert, and recital stages. His operatic roles include Puccini’s Marcello in La Bohème, Sharpless in Madama Butterfly, the title role in Gianni Schicchi, and Mozart’s Il Conte Almaviva in Le Nozze di Figaro and Guglielmo in Così fan tutte among others. Internationally, he has appeared as the baritone soloist in numerous opera gala performances in both Italy and Mexico in works by Verdi, Puccini, and Donizetti. Recently, he has performed with the Chippewa Valley Symphony Orchestra in works by Beethoven and Mahler. Dr. Pereira also has been a soloist with the Eau Claire Chamber in works by Bach, Handel, and Mozart. Prior to his arrival in the Chippewa Valley, Dr. Pereira appeared regularly as a soloist with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Maestro Raymond Leppard in works by Beethoven and Haydn. He is also a featured soloist on the orchestra’s 2008 recording of classical and traditional Christmas music. Born and raised in northern California, Dr. Pereira graduated Magna cum Laude from California State University, Stanislaus. He holds a Doctor of Music in Voice Performance
