The VocalEssence Singers Of This Age and 100 Festival participants from Twin Cities high schools come together in an exhilarating celebration of song featuring the music of B.E. Boykin and selections highlighting South Africa, Somalia, and more. This concert culminates two days of rehearsals with composer in residence B.E. Boykin and VocalEssence artistic staff. Phillip Shoultz, III , festival director and conductor PROGRAM Coming Soon! THINGS TO KNOW VocalEssence has hosted the Urban Choir Festival annually since 2019. Historically, the Urban Choir Festival has been part of the American Choral Directors’ Association of Minnesota (ACDA-MN) State Conference. Participants come from close to twenty schools around the Twin Cities with the focus placed on Minneapolis and St. Paul Public School students. Guest Artist(s) are selected each year to share music and culture from a variety of genres and traditions. This is the first year that the Festival Concert performance will be performed in St. Paul.
