Join us at Radium Runway in Alameda on Saturday September 19 for some fun with the whole family! We'll be at a wonderful outdoor venue on Alameda Point playing some epic music. For the first half, we'll be playing Omar Thomas's defiant A Mother of A Revolution! commissioned for wind ensemble on the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, honoring Marsha P. Johnson. For the second half, we'll be playing one of our favorite John Williams pieces: his "Superman March" from the 1978 film Superman .

Join us for four evenings of listening and discovery as Philharmonia’s program notes annotator Scott Foglesong offers a practical introduction to the music, the composers, and the ideas and stories behind it. Class 2: The Baroque Era gave us the orchestra in its earliest incarnations, thanks to that newfangled invention, opera, which required an accompanying ensemble. Baroque orchestral music runs from the refined and elegant (Corelli) to vibrant and innovative (Vivaldi) to profound and heartfelt (Bach) to expertly-crafted and sometimes even spectacular (Handel).
