The season’s opener begins with a fanfare of fate, which marks a poignant full circle for Francesco Lecce-Chong. Join us for the season opener when we present sensational music by Italian Baroque composers, each piece full of verve, élan, and flair! Our legendary soprano, Mary Wilson, will perform Vivaldi's " Laudate pueri Dominum ," a major work in ten movements composed for a virtuoso Venetian singer. Two spirited instrumental works by Domenico Scarlatti and a bravura concerto for two cellos add more panache to the program. And there are off-the-beaten-path discoveries in store, too! Albinoni's elegant Sinfonia and Caldara's lilting Chaconne bring moments of serenity. And the grandeur of Corelli's Concerto Grosso in D Major completes the program with its focus on a quartet of soloists supported by the full ensemble. We think you'll love starting our Discovery Series with this jubilant concert!
